Welcome to African Sleep Medicine Network

The African Sleep Medicine Network (ASMN) brings together sleep professionals, researchers, public health experts, and allied health professionals from across Africa to advance sleep health through education, research, collaboration, and advocacy.

Our network includes professionals from diverse fields such as neurology, pulmonology, psychiatry, otorhinolaryngology, dentistry, endocrinology, anaesthesia, sleep research, and public health. With members across countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa, ASMN provides a platform for regional collaboration and the advancement of sleep medicine across the continent.

The Nigerian Sleep Society (NSS), an associate member of the World Sleep Society, plays an important role in advancing sleep science and medicine in Nigeria.

Sleep professionals can participate in our programs by attending the African Sleep Medicine Network Conference, held in conjunction with the Nigerian Sleep Society. Join us in Abuja, Nigeria, on October 8–9, 2026, at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (Banquet Hall) for two days of scientific exchange, professional networking, and discussions on advancing sleep health across Africa under the theme, “Waking Up to Sleep Health in Africa: Current Assessment and Future Developments.”

Register for Conference

Beyond scientific learning, the conference provides an opportunity to connect with colleagues from across Africa and beyond while experiencing the warmth, diversity, culture, cuisine, architecture, and attractions of Abuja, Nigeria.
