ABOUT

Founded in 2025, the African Sleep Medicine Network (ASMN) was established to unify and advance the field of sleep medicine across Africa through collaboration, research, clinical practice, and advocacy. ASMN brings together sleep and circadian health professionals, including clinicians, researchers, educators, and public health experts, to address the growing importance of sleep health on the continent.

As a rapidly expanding network, ASMN provides a platform for both individual professionals and affiliated organizations across Africa to connect, share knowledge, and drive innovation in sleep science and medicine. Our goal is to strengthen capacity, improve patient care, and elevate awareness of sleep health as a critical component of overall well-being.

ASMN promotes collaboration and professional development through a range of programs and initiatives, including:

  • Continental congresses and conferences that foster knowledge exchange and showcase research in sleep medicine
  • Educational and training programs designed to build expertise in sleep science and clinical practice
  • Public awareness campaigns aimed at improving sleep health across African communities
  • Research mentorship and capacity-building initiatives for emerging sleep scientists
  • Development of context-relevant clinical guidelines and best practices

Through these efforts, ASMN is committed to advancing sleep health in Africa, supporting professionals, and contributing to global conversations in sleep medicine.
